E-challan Tamil Nadu
E-challan is an electronic system introduced to collect traffic fines from violators in Tamil Nadu. The purpose of the e-challan is to enhance road safety and minimise traffic rule violations. With this digital system for e-challans in Tamil Nadu, vehicle owners can easily track their traffic rule penalties. It also eases the work of traffic authorities in tracking, enforcing, and documenting traffic fines digitally.
The working of the e-challan in Tamil Nadu is straightforward. The traffic authorities have installed surveillance cameras and speed sensors at the signals and on highways to monitor driver behaviour. If a driver is found to violate traffic rules, such as jumping a signal or driving beyond the assigned limit, the device captures the vehicle's license plate. Based on the licence plate, the challan is issued against the driver.
In many cases, traffic police authorities also manually issue challans against violators, which can be paid online. With the e-challan system, vehicle owners can view the challan against their vehicle from anywhere, eliminating the need for visiting the office. It also encourages complaints about the road safety measures among vehicle owners.

Importance of Motor Insurance for Vehicles in Tamil Nadu
In Tamil Nadu, motor insurance is compulsory under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, requiring all vehicles on public roads to have at least third-party insurance coverage. This mandatory insurance safeguards vehicle owners from financial losses caused by accidents, theft, or damage to third parties.
For instance, consider a vehicle owner in Chennai who meets with a minor collision during rush hour traffic. Thanks to comprehensive motor insurance, the owner files a quick claim and gets their vehicle repaired at an authorized garage without paying any upfront fees. With insurance coverage, vehicle owners can save a significant amount on repair bills.
IndusInd General Insurance (formerly Reliance General Insurance) offers tailored motor insurance plans that cover accidental damages, theft, and third-party liabilities, helping drivers avoid unexpected expenses.
