E-Challan Pune
The e-challan system in Pune was introduced to curb traffic violations and enhance road safety. This digital platform records penalties and monitors traffic behavior in real time, allowing authorities to track and enforce fines more efficiently than traditional paper-based methods.
Pune’s e-challan system relies on CCTV cameras and automated sensors installed across the city to detect violations such as speeding, signal jumping, and helmet non-compliance. Once a violation is confirmed, an electronic challan is generated and sent to the vehicle owner’s registered mobile number. Traffic police also issue e-challans manually using handheld devices during routine checks.
Key benefits include convenience for citizens, transparency in fine collection, and a secure digital record of payments. Motorists can pay their challans online through the Parivahan portal or Maharashtra Traffic Police website using UPI, cards, or net banking. This system has streamlined traffic enforcement in Pune, reducing paperwork and improving compliance with road safety norms.
