E-Challan Gandhinagar
A Gandhinagar, the green capital of Gujarat, is known for its well-planned layout, wide roads, and modern infrastructure. The introduction of the e-challan system in Gandhibagar has contributed to smooth traffic management and enhanced road discipline. Earlier, the manual process of issuing challans and collecting fines was slow, prone to errors, and often inconvenient to residents. The digital shift streamlines the process and ensures accountability and efficiency.
The e-challan system in Gandhinagar works through a network of strategically placed surveillance cameras at key junctions and roads. These cameras closely monitor traffic movements and automatically capture violations such as overspeeding, jumping red lights, or riding without helmets. Once a violation is detected, the system automatically generates an e-challan and informs the registered owner of the vehicle through a text message.
The implementation of the e-challan system in Gandhinagar has improved road discipline and helped traffic authorities enforce traffic laws more efficiently, transparently, and accurately. More importantly, it aligns with Gandhinagar’s image of a modern and smart city.

Importance of Motor Insurance for Vehicles in Gandhinagar
A valid third-party motor insurance policy is mandatory for all vehicles plying in Gandhinagar under Section 146 of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988. If you are caught driving an uninsured vehicle, you may have to pay a penalty of up to ₹4,000 and/or face imprisonment of up to three months. Beyond legal compliance, it may leave you financially vulnerable if your car meets with an unforeseen mishap.
A comprehensive motor insurance policy safeguards you not only from the mandatory third-party liabilities but also from unplanned expenses arising from an accident, theft, fire, natural calamity, or even vandalism. For example, if your bike gets stolen outside a shopping mall in Gandhinagar, your motor insurance provider will cover the financial loss. Without insurance, you’d have to bear the entire loss yourself. Similarly, if your vehicle damages another car or injures a pedestrian, your insurer will cover the compensatory claims.
