Types of Visas for the UAE
The UAE offers various visa options for Indian travellers, depending on the purpose of your visit. Understanding different visa types helps you choose the right one for tourism, business, transit or long-term stays in the Emirates.
Tourist Visa
The UAE offers a five-year, multiple-entry Tourist Visa allowing Indian travellers to stay 90 days per visit, extendable once for another 90 days. Apply through UAE airlines, hotels or tour operators with a valid passport, proof of funds, a return ticket and UAE medical insurance coverage required.
Visa on Arrival
Indian passport holders with a valid US visa, Green Card or UK/EU residence permit get a 14-day single-entry Visa on Arrival at UAE airports. One 14-day extension is possible through immigration counters. Simply present qualifying documents and pay fees upon arrival at the airport.
Visit Visa
The Visit Visa offers single or multiple-entry permits for 60, 90 or 120 days. Standard versions need UAE sponsors like residents, companies or hotels. The new Job-Seeker Visit Visa (valid for 60, 90 or 120 days) allows bachelor's degree holders to search for work without exit requirements while staying in the UAE.
Transit Visa
UAE airlines arrange Transit Visas for travellers with confirmed onward tickets to third countries. Free 48-hour and fee-based 96-hour options are available. Passengers need valid passports, onward tickets and hotel reservations. This visa cannot be extended and is perfect for layovers in the UAE.
Work Visa
Emirates employers sponsor Work Visas, starting with two-month entry permits. After arrival, medical exams, Emirates ID registration and labour card issuance create two-year renewable residence permits. Holders earning a minimum AED 4,000 monthly can later sponsor family members under specific salary requirements and conditions.
Residence Visa
Residence Visas last 1-5 years and are renewable indefinitely. Categories include Student, Investor, Retirement and Property Owner visas. The Golden Visa grants 5 or 10-year residency to investors and professionals. All require valid passports, UAE medical insurance and Emirates ID enrollment.
