RTO West Bengal
West Bengal, located in eastern India, is one of the most densely populated states with thousands of vehicles navigating its roads daily. Known for its cultural heritage and economic significance, the state has witnessed a surge in vehicle registrations over the years. With over 20 lakh vehicles registered in 2024 alone, managing traffic and compliance has become a major challenge for this growing state.
The RTO West Bengal plays a very important role in managing this situation by handling all vehicle-related paperwork and rules. This department operates under the West Bengal Transport Department and uses codes starting with WB for vehicle registration numbers. The RTO follows the rules under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 and takes care of important tasks like issuing driving licenses, registering new vehicles and making sure all vehicles follow safety and emission norms.
People in West Bengal can get RTO services in two main ways – either by visiting the RTO office in person or by using online services through the Parivahan website. This system helps reduce long waiting lines and makes it easier for residents to complete their vehicle-related work.
