E-Challan Chandigarh
In earlier days, traffic police used to manually catch rule breakers and write challans on paper. This old method was slow, and sometimes the police could not see all the violations happening around the city. Now, a new e-challan Chandigarh system is in place that utilises cameras to monitor roads continuously. These cameras take pictures when someone breaks traffic rules and then send a message to the vehicle owner's phone with the fine details.
Chandigarh city has placed these smart cameras on many roads and traffic signals around the area. When drivers jump red lights or drive too fast, the cameras detect the violation right away. After taking the picture, an online challan is created, which gets sent to people through text messages.
This new system has brought many benefits to Chandigarh residents and the traffic police alike. People can now pay their traffic fines online from home instead of visiting police stations. They receive instant SMS alerts about their violations with clear photo proof. Most importantly, this system has made roads safer because drivers know they are being watched constantly.

Importance of Motor Insurance for Vehicles in Chandigarh
Having motor insurance is not just a good idea but a legal requirement under the Indian Motor Vehicle Act 1988 for all vehicle owners. In Chandigarh, motorists will be fined ₹2,000 for the first offence and ₹4,000 for each subsequent offence if they are caught driving without proper insurance. Beyond the financial penalty, driving without insurance can lead to serious legal troubles and leave vehicle owners personally responsible for all damages in case of an accident.
Let's say you’re driving on Chandigarh's Rock Garden road. Another reversing car hits your car while parking, damaging the side panels and mirrors. With IndusInd motor insurance (formerly Reliance motor insurance), these repair expenses are fully covered, and we also help you settle the bill without any cash payment if you choose to repair the vehicle at one of our 11,000+ network garages* across India.
Chandigarh's wide roads and heavy traffic also make it prone to accidents, especially during peak hours when vehicles move at high speeds. That's why IndusInd General Insurance (formerly Reliance General Insurance) offers comprehensive coverage with 13+ add-ons*, including Zero Depreciation coverage, to help Chandigarh residents minimise their out-of-pocket expenses and drive with complete confidence.
